Being 747 - The Girl Who Fell
Asleep Whilst Watching Her Life Flash Before Her Eyes
Dec 04
'damn that's a title and half, and i am seriously fed up with having
to type it out. good job the song is as good as it it. inspiral
carpets hammond organs, wedding present riffs, julian cope surrealness
all joined together in perfect harmony. the ep's lead track has
been lifted from the bands excellent debut to hopefully raise the
profile of the band knack for catchy indie pop that should brighten
up any dark winters day. wonderful stuff.
and the rest of the ep ? 'communist prince' is another full band
track, where mainman paul cooke is once again backed by the morricone
brothers, paul and steve, as if they haven't enough to do with the
scaramanga six and running wrath records! 'desperate dan' is a more
acoustic effort with a lyrical plea regarding lost souls and drinking
sorrows with the song reveakling all the loss of the chances of
the ritualistic saturday night hunt that many men partake in. such
openness to such a lovely melody. things are ramped up for the finale
'dont tip toe' brings on the mad synths, scary organs.
hopefully the ep will get into the hands of the many, and expose
the bands twisted pop nous to the rights folks, cos basically, i
like this bands way with stories and melodies in their classic indiepop
settings. and that's a good thing surely?
